Google Assistant: How to mute and only show results on screen

Voice assistants can be useful for getting information when you can’t or don’t want to type a query in a browser yourself. But the voice that answers us is still robotic, despite the efforts of the developers, sometimes it can be quite unpleasant to listen to. And at night or in public places, it may not be appropriate for our smartphone to hum tomorrow’s weather. Google is aware of this and has added an option to Assistant to have our device just display the results on the screen instead of presenting them to us verbally.

Google Assistant: With this option, the results of the queries are displayed on the screen but not spoken

Procedure to enable this option:

• On your Android phone or tablet, press and hold the button. main menu key or tell “Ok Google”
• In the lower right corner, tap “Discover” icon (compass)
• in the upper right corner, profile photo or your initials
• choose Settings
• go to tab assistant
• go down Devices used and choose what you want to configure
• Scroll Voice and speech recognition and bass audio output mode
• choose hands free only

And there you go! When you send a request to the Google Assistant, the results are shown on the screen and you don’t have to put up with the sound of your smartphone or tablet except when it’s in hands-free mode.
