Gmail: Google integrates 8 application modules to make you more productive

As part of their profession, many people need to communicate via email. However, emails are not usually the only form of communication used by companies. Many firms use other group communication platforms that allow, for example, to assign tasks to different employees or to share documents easily. In fact, many people should switch between multiple apps all day long. In the end, these people are wasting their precious time.

To allow users of the Gmail email service to work more efficiently, Google has integrated 8 third-party application modules into the email service. Announced in March 2017, Gmail extensions are finally available to everyone. These different extensions will allow you to use services like Asana, RingCentral or Trello directly from Gmail without the need to open another app. Even better, extensions are automatically activated based on received messages. Once installed, the modules are available for all compatible devices in both web and Android versions of Gmail. For now, this new feature is not available on iOS.

Gmail: how to download third-party app add-ons

Nothing could be easier to install these modules. Once in Gmail, hit the little gear icon and then the button to access the settings. Download plugins. A GSuite Marketplace tab will then appear on the screen to allow you to download the modules of your choice. Feel free to check out all our Gmail tips. There are currently only eight Gmail add-ons, but many developers are already making new ones. For example, a DocuSign extension will soon make it possible to sign PDFs from Gmail. Below is a list of the eight Gmail modules currently available:

• Streak CRM: manage your sales and customer relationships directly from Gmail
• Asana: Turn your emails directly into Asana tasks without leaving Gmail
• Smartsheet: Keep track of your important emails and attachments by adding them directly from Gmail to a Smartsheet
• Trello: effectively manage your teamwork by turning your emails into Gmail to-dos
• Wrike: Turn your emails into Wrike-to-dos for your team projects
• Keypad: this module automatically detects phone numbers in emails and allows you to make voice calls from the cloud without leaving Gmail
• RingCentral: This module detects phone numbers and other contextual information in emails, allowing you to communicate with people via SMS or voice call
• ProsperWorks CRM: Collect customer information directly from Gmail so you can access it later on the ProsperWorks CRM platform.
