Google aims to make Gboard the best keyboard on Android and for this the company regularly integrates new features to keep its users addicted. Most of them aim to save time, such as the possibility of canceling errors with one click, while others aim to improve your writing, such as the AI assistant that proofreads your text and corrects errors. And sometimes it’s just a matter of increasing the user’s comfort.

In the latest beta, Google is struggling with a major issue with its keyboard – it’s fair to say. When you turn your smartphone horizontally, you definitely gain speed by typing with both hands, but you lose a lot of the readability of the screen. Indeed, Gboard has an unfortunate tendency to take up a large portion of the space, preventing you from seeing anything other than what you’re typing, even on large-screen smartphones.

Google offers an elegant solution to a major Gboard problem

In the latest beta, Gboard gained a new feature: floating mode. Those who know will not be mistaken. The latter is certainly already available, but you have to go through various menus to enable it. Now all you have to do is turn your smartphone horizontally for the floating mode to be automatically activated.

It is now possible to place it wherever you want on the screen and adjust its size. This therefore allows it to take up much less space and, above all, to move it around as you wish, depending on what you want to see on the screen. Note that Gboard will remember its last location and automatically replace itself on the next session.
