With the end of 2015, Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors are starting to gain momentum. We’ve heard a lot of little details about the phone lately, and this weekend three new major rumors have surfaced that buyers will want to know about.
The Wall Street Journal, the Korean Times, and the latest news from popular leaksters like @evleaks or @onleaks all have shared information, and now we have even more details ahead of the rumored February or March release date. From a new security feature, improved design, different screen sizes and even an early release date.
The first Galaxy S7 reports surfaced in September, but more are starting to emerge as a possible release date approaches. Above is a link to a report from the world’s largest carrier, China Mobile, which suggests a March release date, and now we have another date and a few more important details to share with prospective buyers.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 for April of this year is still hugely popular, and it’s been on sale recently with buy-one-free deals, discounts on eBay and elsewhere, but most buyers looking for a new phone right now should probably wait for the Galaxy. Q7.
Rumor has it that in early 2016 Samsung will launch a new Galaxy S7 with a design very similar to last year’s Galaxy S6. It has a similar aluminum and glass design, but with a few key changes. Some of these include a pressure-sensitive display similar to the 3D Touch feature on the iPhone 6s, USB Type-C for faster charging, universal cables and more, a better camera, cleaner software, a larger battery, and other cutting-edge technology. However, that’s not all.
Three Galaxy S7s to Choose From
Early leaks suggested that Samsung will launch four different smartphones in early 2016 so buyers can have multiple choices. However, Samsung’s profits have been dwindling lately, and more releases won’t necessarily help the result.
As a result, a new report this weekend According to Reuters, which is true for the most part, buyers will only have two or three phones to choose from, and instead of two different options with the curved Edge version of the phone, one will be the perfect size.
Reuters claims its sources have confirmed that Samsung will release 2-3 different Galaxy S7 variants in early 2016, not four. These are the 5.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S7, the 6-inch Galaxy S7 Plus and the Galaxy S7 Edge. This is where the rumors turn. Prior to this leak, we heard that Samsung will release a regular Galaxy S7 Edge followed by a larger “Plus” version of the Edge. And while that’s still true, it might not arrive earlier in the year.
Instead, we could see the 5.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S7, the 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 Edge with the curved screen, and then the 6-inch Galaxy S7 Plus. Giving users two great sizes to choose from, as Google and Apple have done, then a middle ground curved variant for those who want something like this year’s curved devices.
Iris Scanner
Everything we’ve heard claims that Samsung has kept the overall design almost the same as last year, but has added some new features. Rather than a radical redesign that costs more money. It’s what Apple does every two years, so it makes sense for Samsung to follow suit.
Since the Samsung Galaxy S4, leaks suggest that Samsung has a new generation of James Bond-type technology in the form of an “Iris Scanner” that will scan users’ eyes for safety. This will be faster, more accurate, more secure than a fingerprint scanner and more natural when the user picks up the phone and looks at it.

We’ve heard that a new sensor located on the front of the device will scan the user’s Iris and instantly unlock the phone. An Iris scanner can unlock the phone, sign in to apps and websites, make wireless payments with Samsung Pay, and much more. Basically be a better, easier and faster version of fingerprint scanner.
We’ve heard this before, but sources suggest Samsung is closer than ever before and may finally come true next year.
Galaxy S7 Release Date
As many have probably noticed, we continue to talk about early 2016. Last week’s China Mobile report claimed that the Galaxy S7 will launch in March, which is likely extremely true or very close. That said, we’ve heard that Samsung wants to reduce its return from a new phone every 12-13 months to every 10 months to get ahead of its rivals at Apple.
We saw this in 2015 when the Galaxy Note 5 was announced and launched in August rather than in October like the previous 2-3 years, which started a month ahead on the iPhone 6s Plus.

The Reuters report above and all of the other reports claim that the same 10-month cycle is on its way for the Galaxy S7 as well. Meaning rather than a release in April, to be announced and It was released in February 2016. Reuters claimed that its sources indicated that Samsung will “release the handset in February” of 2016. A version was released in March in the Twitter post above, but that may be wrong, according to Reuters.
