We’ve been using the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update for a few weeks on the AT&T model and it continues to deliver solid performance on the aging legacy flagship. We didn’t experience any significant battery drain, didn’t see any abnormal lag, and didn’t encounter any connection issues. All three of these have been major issues for Galaxy S5 users.
We hear good things from other Galaxy S5 users as well. A Verizon Galaxy S5 owner recently said that the second version of Verizon’s Android 5.0 Lollipop has indeed fixed most of the startup problems. He says the performance is now “smooth”.
Again, it’s essentially a reminder for most of you to roll the dice. Yes, Galaxy S5 Lollipop issues are still an issue. No, it doesn’t affect every single Galaxy S5 user in the world.
Samsung Promises Fix For Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Issues
US carriers keep quiet about their plans, but Samsung UK confirms that the company It’s sending out “micro-updates” (we’re assuming that means bugfix updates) to fix some of the issues it brings with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The regional arm says updates are currently being delivered and will be sent “depending on your network provider” to deal with “reported issues”. In other words, these bug fix updates will be extremely unpredictable for many people. They seem to be coming though, and those of you dealing with problems will want to keep their eyes open.
Android 5.1 Lollipop
It’s also worth noting that Samsung is currently developing an Android 5.1 Lollipop update. For those who don’t know, Android 5.1 Lollipop is a massive bug fix update that fixes many of Android 5.0’s issues while providing some feature tweaks. It’s available for a range of devices and is rumored to be coming to the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and more. A Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1.1 leak has confirmed it’s coming for users in the United States.
Now, we don’t know if it will come to the Galaxy S5, but there is definitely a chance that Samsung will use the update to not only offer Guest Mode but also offer various bug fixes to the former flagship. It’s an update that Galaxy S5 users will want to keep their eyes on as we head deeper into May and an inevitable Android 5.1 release.
