Galaxy Note 5 vs Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: 5 Key Differences

Earlier in August, Samsung introduced its latest and greatest smartphones. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and large curved Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. These two high-end 5.7-inch powerful Android smartphones may look the same at first glance, but there are some key differences that users should be aware of.

At its annual Samsung Unpacked event in New York City on August 13, Samsung announced these two phones, successors to last year’s Galaxy Note 4, and a bigger, more powerful and better version of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which was released in April. Essentially, Samsung has offered the perfect consumer device for those who want the great Note experience without all the S-Pen features, bloatware, and other changes.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is a fantastic smartphone made entirely of glass and aluminum. It no longer feels like a cheap plastic Samsung phone, but the same goes for the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. That’s not all, read on for a few things that set these two impressive new phones apart.

Although these two phones look the same on paper and at first glance, in reality there are two big differences. One is the S-Pen stylus on the Note 5 and the curved screen on the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. This results in one being thicker and heavier than the other and a few other design changes. Oddly enough, the Note 5’s back is curved, which makes it easier to hold than the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, but there’s more to it than that below.

Both of these phones look and feel great. Constructed from a unibody aluminum body design, glass front and rear, and beautiful Black, White, Gold or Titanium Silver colours. The 5.7-inch display is one of the best we’ve ever seen, and the 16-megapixel camera picks up where the Galaxy S6 left off. That means it’s one of the best cameras on any smartphone available today.

For consumers, both of these phones look very similar and don’t look very different. And to be honest, they’re not that different. However, there are two obvious use cases here. The Note 5 has this stylus and tons of productivity tools, while the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has folds that look great on the screen, add shortcuts to contacts and frequently used apps, and are more for personal use.
