Chrome: you risk losing all your bookmarks, install a quick update

Craig Tumbleson, Google’s product support manager, said in a post on the Chrome support page: End of support for Chrome Sync on computers still using Chrome 48. “As previously shared in the Chrome Enterprise release notes for M94, we would like to notify anyone using the Chrome browser M48 or older that Chrome Sync will be deprecated in these versions”says Craig Tumbleson

Chrome Sync “M96 will no longer work when started on stable channel”. Obviously, the functionality is only No longer available on computers with Chrome 48or earlier, as soon as Chrome 96 is released as the final, stable version. Note that Google has just started the distribution of Chrome 95 at the end of October 2021. In fact, version 96 no longer needs to wait before rolling out to all users.

How to install a Chrome update so you don’t lose your bookmarks?

For those who don’t know, Chrome Sync is a Chrome feature that lets you: sync history, passwords or favorites in the browser on all computers, tablets or smartphones where the user is logged in. Without this very practical option, Internet users risk depriving themselves of their favorite lists.

“To continue using Chrome Sync, please update your browser to Chrome 49 or later”recommends the manager in the post. If you’re still using an older version of Chrome, we recommend:‘install update without further ado. Here’s how:

• Open the web browser
• click More in the upper right corner of the interface
• press on update google chrome

Note that installing a newer version of Chrome also allows you to: protection against hackers. The Mountain View giant regularly adds patches to improve the security of Chrome. Recently Google also fixed 2 zero-day flaws with the latest update.
