After a few weeks in beta, Chrome 76 finally available in stable release on all platforms. The browser introduces a few new features, starting with the default blocking of Adobe Flash. The plugin has been out of favor for several years and despite its demise being announced in 2020, its permanent removal remains a problem for browsers and many sites are still dependent on technology. Google started blocking certain Flash content in 2015 before enabling HTML5 by default in 2016. 2019 is a new milestone.
Chrome 76 is available for download, what’s new?
With Chrome 76, Adobe Flash is disabled by default as seen in the beta version. All Flash content without exception is now automatically blocked. That doesn’t mean you can’t play some of your favorite games online if, like most people, they still use Flash technology. It is indeed possible to enable Flash in Google Chrome 76.
The other big change brought by Chrome 76 is disable FileSystem API while user is in private browsing. Announced a few weeks ago, this change has finally become active. It prevents websites from detecting that Incognito mode is enabled. Also, Chrome automatically allows websites to be viewed in dark mode when enabled across the OS.
The new version of Google Chrome was made available on July 30. If not yet, you can choose between waiting for its availability on your level or downloading it directly. Google’s website (Desktop).
