Android Oreo Go: YouTube Go, Maps Go and Google Go update, here is the list of new features

Android Oreo Go Edition is getting an update to make some of its native apps less limited. This version of the latest mobile operating system is designed for entry mid-range or older smartphones. In other words, smartphones whose technical sheet will not allow you to enjoy all the features of Android 8.0. The other advantage of Android Go is its small data footprint.

Android Oreo Go: three native apps updated

There are several Android Go smartphones currently available:

Not all of these are available in France yet, and this is normal: Google is mainly targeting emerging markets; this does not mean that such devices have nothing to do in France. So YouTube Go, Maps Go and Google Go are three of the 9 native apps that will benefit from an update.

YouTube Go enjoys more flexibility: videos are not only saved to save data, but from now on these videos can be discovered outside of the YouTube app via the file explorer (in .yt format). This allows you to more easily share them and make changes on the fly, among other things. However, these .yt files cannot be read outside of the YouTube app.

Google Maps Go It will also be updated so that the app can tell you your way audibly – one of the many dead ends of this “light” app so far. This voice assistant will support 50 languages. Strangely enough, Google Maps Go still doesn’t allow you to download maps like in the regular version, although you can save these maps to an external microSD card…

Google Go It also gives voice: the app can read pages aloud. This feature will cover 28 languages ​​from now on “next weeks” Google tells us. Although officially announced, these updates do not have a firm release date yet, but reference “next weeks” or “end of the year” For YouTube, it shows that we don’t need to be patient for long.
