Android Go: Low-cost smartphones get better at photos with night mode and HDR

But by necessity, we usually do not expect exceptional features. Android Go smartphones have a small technical sheet, and photo sensors in particular are usually there, if not all. But the spirit of Android Go is not fully make the most of modest technical data sheets. In this context, Google makes an announcement. Camera Go supports Night Mode, HDR is coming soon

In an official video taken at the end of the article, indeed feature rolling out to Nokia 1.3, Wiko Y61 and Y81. Thanks to the night mode, it is possible to take amazing photos in low light conditions without flash. As with more expensive smartphones, night mode works by capturing a series of shots that are then used to create a precise, colorful and very bright final image.

The video also mentions:The upcoming arrival of HDR mode (High dynamic range). This algorithm takes a series of images again with different exposure settings. It then assembles a final image so that details stand out in both the dark and light parts. But for now, Google is not attempting to give a timeline for the arrival of HDR on Android Go smartphones.

That’s pretty cool to see though the cheapest smartphones on the market also benefit from continuous improvements from Google.
