Digital Wellbeing, called “Digital Wellbeing” in French, is a toolbox launched in 2018 to integrate digital more intelligently into our daily lives. It can be accessed via: Settings menu On Android, it allows you to finely manage the number of notifications you receive, periods when you need to concentrate or rest, and an indicator of the most used applications. You can also set a limit for each application.
This last part is still quite underdeveloped and not very practical. Android allows you to view an app’s usage time and a histogram showing daily usage time, whether the screen is on or not. The same data is available for the number of activations and the number of notifications. But you don’t have it No cumulative data for the week or in a special category. There are no hour by hour details. And above all, access to this information is only through the phone’s settings menu. Therefore, the experience is less hands-on compared to the Screen Time experience that comes with iOS 12.

This widget, the first images of which you can see above, will have various sizes that display different information depending on the space allocated to it. Additionally, the size of the bubbles will vary depending on how long the app has been active. Of course, the design will be based on the guidelines. MaterialYou Android 12 with adaptive colors. The widget displays circles proportional to the usage time of the app. According to 9to5google, this will not be a Google Pixels-exclusive widget. Therefore, all Android smartphones should benefit from this.

Apple has developed a more comprehensive equivalent service on iOS. in the name Screen TIME (or Screen Time), this system offers: TRUE Dashboard daily, weekly and even hourly. Screen Time of course includes usage time as well as number of activations and number of notifications. Also the control panel combine data by categories. Netflix alone doesn’t mean much. But if you add Prime Video and Disney+, the screen statistics become more interesting. Finally, iOS offers a short weekly report with the evolution of activation time and a very practical widget.
