In recent years, eSim has gradually taken over from the traditional SIM card. In France, Orange became the first operator to set things right by offering eSIM to its subscribers in 2019. It took until 2020 for their competitors to start. Bouygues has been offering eSIM on compatible smartphones since June 2020, followed by SFR and Free, the latest operators to integrate this functionality.

As a reminder, eSIM is a miniature version of the traditional SIM cardit has the advantage of being soldered directly to the motherboard of your smartphone. In this way, compatible smartphones can do without a SIM card slot and save a lot of space for integrating other components.

Here euicc stands for the term “.embedded universal integrated circuit board“, that is, the software component of eSIM. When? ss, It stands for Quick Install. In other words, this feature points to a new functionality that allows Fast and smooth transfer of eSIM cards between two Android smartphones. Also and again according to Mishaal Rahman, convert a physical SIM card to an eSIM profile. For now, it’s hard to know when this function will be deployed to the highest number. We’ll have to wait for the Pixel Feature Drop or Android 14 to arrive in March 2023 to find out for sure.
