Computer security researchers at ThreatFabric noticed that:A trojan horse called Alien currently takes on over 226 Android apps. Based on code from Cerberus, a dangerous virus that can hijack your bank account, Alien is designed to steal its victims’ passwords and usernames.
In detail, the malware can steal your SMS messages, send them without your knowledge, collect your contacts’ names, your location, install an app, and recover authentication codes received by an online service. This way, hackers can access your accounts. ThreatFabric warns that in most cases, the malware is distributed by a fake phishing site. “A large portion of this appears to be distributed through phishing sites, such as a malicious page that directs victims to download fake software updates or fake Corona apps.” ThreatFabric IT security researcher Gaetan van Diemen explains:

As of now, Google has not yet found a solution to protect apps that have been targeted by malware. To avoid falling victim to hackers, ThreatFabric recommends the following: Do not install applications from unknown websites.. First of all, do not allow apps from the internet. Fake apps infected with Alien malware need a lot of permissions during installation to steal your messages.
