Android 13: Codename Tiramisu

Do you like Tiramisu? It’s true that this Italian dessert, a mixture of mascarpone, biscuits, amaretto and coffee, has its fans. Apparently Google is one of them, because Android version 13 will adopt this codename.

While Android 12 is getting all the attention, Google is already working on the next version and XDA Developers has noticed that it already has its little codename. An internal memo actually asks: To change the name of the platform from “T” to Tiramisu. Of course, the name of the Italian dessert will be used within the company, not in the company’s communications. While it may seem insignificant, it’s actually a small wink that will please fans.

In fact, Android has used dessert names to name its versions almost since its inception. The first was version 1.5 called Cupcake.
