Android 12 will allow Google Assistant to be activated with the On/Off button

There’s now more than one way to activate Google Assistant. Gone are the days when you could just say “OK Google,” an input that would soon become useless for certain voice commands. From now on, we can hold down the home button or swipe from the edges of the screen to wake up the assistant. Android 12 will introduce two new methods: double-tapping the screen (as we already know) and Call with On/Off button.

Actually in the latest version of the application we find new lines of code stating the following: “To talk to your assistant, press and hold the Power button, then release it.” This option is already offered by some Chinese manufacturers through their respective overlays, but it looks like Google wants it deploy to all Android smartphones within the application itself.

Activate Google Assistant in Various Ways

It is now possible to find this option In app settings under Android 12at least on the Pixel 3 XL. However, since Google still needs to fix some stability issues, it is not possible to enable it at the moment. The functionality can also be activated from: Settings in the smartphone section Apps and notifications.

This is not the only feature available in Android 12. Researchers also discovered that: a new way to authorize payments when the smartphone is unlocked or connected to Android Auto. The code says: “Skip entering your password or security code when your phone is connected to Android Auto” together “Pay when [le téléphone est] unlocked ».
