Samsung has done a great job with the redesigned One UI for Galaxy devices. You can expect excellent one-handed mode, refreshed default apps with a big header at the top, and smooth animations in One UI. The improvements don’t end there. Samsung has also cleverly integrated battery saving metrics. If you are drawing below average battery power from your Galaxy device, you need to change some options and settings in One UI.
To be fair to Samsung, the company offers its devices with huge battery packs. Especially the Galaxy M series is loved by its 6000mAh/7000mAh battery.
Even with large battery counts, you can complete the day with little or no battery juice. If you want to fix battery consumption and improve battery life, you need to make some changes in One UI.
In this post, we are going to talk about the nine best ways to fix Samsung One UI battery drain issues. You can increase your Samsung phone’s battery life and even advance battery health cycles using the following tricks. Lets start.
1. Disable Always On Display (AOD)
Always On Display is one of the best additions to One UI. AOD monitors your screen with time, date, battery status, notifications, screensavers, etc. Allows you to customize the display. Always On Display will drain battery life. On average, it consumes about 1% of battery life per hour.
Moreover, if you are a picture as AOD, it will drain the battery faster. You should disable AOD mode on your device. Drop the notification bar down and disable the AOD toggle.

Alternatively, you can turn the function off by opening the Settings menu and going to Lock screen > Always On Display.
2. Enable Dark Mode
Most Samsung phones now come with AMOLED displays, including the Galaxy M, A, S and Note series. AMOLED panels are battery friendly when used in dark mode. Fortunately, Samsung has integrated a suitable Black theme for dark mode.

Dark mode does not require every pixel to illuminate the screen. To save some battery juice, you should enable dark mode from the notification toggle. Users can also use the automatic dark mode on/off function from the Settings > Display > Dark Mode menu.
3. Adaptive Brightness With On/Off
Screen brightness plays an important role in affecting the battery life of any device. Samsung offers Adaptive brightness option to keep track of brightness settings and automatically apply them in similar lighting conditions.

By default, the option is disabled. You need to turn on the function in Settings > Display > Adaptive brightness.
4. Use Power Mode
Samsung provides a clean Power Mode menu to customize the power saving according to your needs. By default, Power Mode is set to Optimized, but if you’re getting less than ideal battery life, switch to Medium Power Saver or Maximum Power Saver mode.
Follow the steps below to use Power Mode on Galaxy devices.
Stage 1: Open the Settings app on your Galaxy device.
Step 2: Go to Battery > Power Mode.

Stage 3: By default, it is set to Optimize. Switch to Medium or Maximum Power Save.

5. Switch to Adaptive Power Saving
I highly recommend using Adaptive Power Saver mode on your Samsung phone. The best of both worlds. You can continue to use the device in normal mode and One UI will automatically switch to medium or maximum power saving as needed.
The system learns from your usage pattern and automatically changes the power mode to save battery life.

Go to Settings > Battery > Power Mode and enable Adaptive Power Saver mode.
6. Use Adaptive Battery Function
Samsung offers a handy Adaptive battery mode to limit battery usage. This option restricts battery usage for apps you don’t use often. You can find and enable the option in Settings > Battery > App power management.

7. Disable Fast Charge
This option can be useful if you plan to keep your device for a longer period of time. Your device’s battery health comes with a constant charge cycle and capacity decreases over time. The fast charge option speeds up the degradation process of the battery.

You can disable fast charging in the device settings menu. It can come in handy if you plan to charge the device overnight.
8. Scan Phone
You don’t need any third-party antivirus on your Android phone. However, if you are installing apps outside of the Play Store or using a Samsung phone with multiple PCs to transfer files, you should scan the phone periodically.

A sketchy file or malware can affect the battery life of your Galaxy phone. Samsung has partnered with Macfee to provide a solution. You can open Device Care and go to Security option to scan the phone and remove irrelevant files.
9. Download Latest Software Update
A sudden battery drain on your Galaxy device could be due to a recent buggy build. After all, Samsung isn’t at the top of the list when it comes to delivering quality updates. You should check if there is a new software build that can be installed on the device.
