Customizing your phone’s lock screen and home screen is probably one of the things we all do often. I switch between 2-3 different home screen backgrounds in a week. With phone screens getting better every day, quality wallpapers bring out the best in these Android phones.
However, quality and good looking wallpapers can be quite difficult to source. And I’m not kidding. If you must know, wallpaper apps in the Google Play Store are one of the main targets of malware and other scams. Therefore, you should know that the app you downloaded is safe and secure.
That’s why we made it our mission to compile a list of the best wallpaper apps for Android phones in 2020.
Since it will be a long chapter, let’s get into it right away.
1. Darkops AMOLED Wallpapers
If you read my posts often, you might already know my love for Darkops AMOLED wallpaper app. It has one of the best collections of dark wallpapers. And unlike most apps that only have two or three tone images, this app includes a range of vibrant colors for its wallpapers. As a result, you get rich and attractive images for your home screen.
All wallpapers are divided into categories where you can choose the ones you like. What I usually do is scroll through the Wall of the Day section.
Or if I’m too lazy I hit the Randomize button. And hey, don’t forget to check out the Landscapes and Superheroes sections.

2. Wallhub
If you want a small and simple wallpaper app with a variety of options, you should give Wallhub a shot. It has a clean collection of FHD and QHD wallpapers that enhance the look of your home screen. The great thing about Wallhub is that all images initially appear in monochrome. True colors are given to them as you scroll the feed.
3. Wally
If you want your phone’s home screen to stand out, you should definitely take a look at Walli. Not only does it have a great collection of custom artwork created by the artist community, it also has a great playlist feature.
The first lets you have unique and extraordinary wallpapers and the second lets your home screen come alive with different images/wallpapers. The built-in automatic wallpaper changer feature called Walli Playlist allows you to add up to 10 images at a time and then you can change them according to the set time. I would say quite innovative.
What I love about Walli is that it is rare to find such wallpapers in other apps.
4. Red Papers
Another app that lets you automatically switch between several wallpapers every hour is RedPapers. What makes this app special is that it originates images from a specific subdirectory. And well, that explains the name.
There are lots of customization options. For example, you can change the schedule and change the subdirectory selection. You can also sort the images according to your preference. Once you’ve done it all, simply press the Start Service button to get the ball rolling.
The only downside is that you can’t choose the wallpaper resolution.
5. 3D Wallpaper Parallax 2019
I’m not a big fan of Parallax wallpaper, but the sheer magic of these 3D wallpapers is too good to ignore. The 3D Wallpaper Parallax app has been a popular name for a while and it certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Thanks to the many layers, the depth effect is quite striking. Its main feature is that you can customize the number of layers.
Speaking of wallpaper collection, it’s good (not great). You’ll find the usual images of Spiderman and other Marvel heroes like Iron Man and Hulk.
Applying images as wallpaper is as simple as tapping the Download and Set buttons.
6. hanger
What makes Walldrobe special is the crowd of high resolution wallpapers. If you like bright images of nature or cityscapes on your Android’s home screen, this app is for you.
While you can always browse the timeline, you can also dive deep into the categories to make your choice. Also, the interface is clean and straightforward.
Cool Tip: Mark wallpapers as Favorites so they can be found easily later.
7. DopeWalls
Do you love superhero wallpapers? If your answer is yes, DopeWalls is the app for you. It has a set of high resolution images that will do real justice to your phone.
That way, you’ll know if the image will pixelate when applied. There are other categories like Nature and Space to choose from.
What I love about DopeWalls is that image details like size and resolution appear below each image.
8. Wallpix
If you want a mix of AMOLED, Neon and Abstract wallpapers, Wallpix is the app you should turn to. This neat little app has a number of categories to suit most moods. Also, the image quality is very good and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
I especially love the dark tones of the wallpapers that look great on phones with AMOLED screens.
No popup ads yet. The free version allows you to set a picture directly as wallpaper. But to download a wallpaper you need to get the Pro version.

9. Hidden Hole
Have a punch-hole or camera cutout? If yes, let Hidey Hole take action. This neat little app came into the limelight when the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10 were released with their unique punch-hole camera cutouts.
This app contains creative hole-friendly wallpapers that give your Android home screen a great look. It has quite a large collection, from Bard Simpson to cute little Minions and brave Spider-Man (see Spider-Man wallpapers). And the best part is that the built-in filter makes it very easy to check for new images.
If your phone has hole on the opposite side, flip the picture and then apply.
Another wallpaper app that caters to a wide variety of phones with punch-hole camera cutouts is oWall. Despite having a wide range of images, the only problem is that the download time is quite long.
A New Look Every Time
It doesn’t take much to change the wallpaper on phones these days. Most phones let you choose a default wallpaper app via home settings, which makes the job even easier.
