It’s March and we’re ready with a brand new edition of our monthly roundup of the best new Android apps. As you know, Google Play Store is full of malicious apps. And often, good and functional apps get lost in the crowd. That’s why we compile a list of newly released apps.
This month’s list has everything from a stylish PDF editor to cooler Android customization apps. And that’s not all. We have quite an interesting app on this list today, so be sure to read through to the end.
1. Automatic synchronization
Automatic sync addresses one of the most talked about limitations of mobile downloads today, selective sync. If you remember, with services like OneDrive and Dropbox, it’s pretty hard to sync selective folders and files. It’s All or Nothing.
Autosync handles this limitation with style. This nifty little app allows you to sync documents from specific folders on your phone to a specific cloud folder like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, among others. And the best part is that it lets you automatically sync a cloud folder with your device. It is interesting, is not it?
Using the application is quite easy. All you have to do is select the cloud service you want and grant the appropriate permissions. When done, tap Sync Folders and select the folders. Besides the above, there are a few options you can explore.
And apart from the cloud services mentioned above, this app also supports others like Box, MEGA, pCloud and Yandex.
2. Supreme Volume Keys
The volume buttons on your phone are only useful when watching movies or listening to songs. And to be honest, that’s their job.
However, if you want to put these two buttons to good use, the Supreme Volume Keys app (yes, that’s what it’s called!) is a good place to start.
It has several nifty shortcuts that you can customize according to your preference. Keep in mind that actions like turning on the flashlight, turning your phone into silent mode, or playing media on your phone are pretty simple.
So if you want to activate DND mode at the touch of a button, this app lets you do that. All you have to do is select the action and assign it to it.
There are various actions mentioned above, both when the buttons are in idle mode and when the device is playing some media items.
The only catch is that you have to remember all button press actions.
3. One Shadow
If you love to customize your Android phone, you will love One Shade. This great app allows you to design the Quick Settings menu according to your preference.
So yes, if you want your notification tray to be tinted with a crazy shade of yellow, you can. If that wasn’t enough, it also lets you change the shape of the icons and add a new trigger for the Quick Settings menu.
The application includes a simple and easy to understand user interface. All you have to do is select a tab of your choice and the app will walk you through the rest.
You can also enable side trigger if your phone doesn’t support notification button pull down gesture. It’s a small handle that fixes to the edge of the screen and when you tap or swipe over it, the notification drawer opens.
The location and color of this trigger can be customized according to your preference.
What I love about this app is the ability to change the position of the clock.
4. Create Vimeo
Do you love creating Stories on Instagram and Facebook? If your answer is yes, Vimeo Create app is for you.
Vimeo Create is a video editing platform where you can create short clips and videos. The app has several templates that you can customize. And the best part is that you can also upload your original creations.
What you’ll love about Vimeo Create is the plethora of music and animations that turn into interesting video clips. Once done, you can save the video to your phone’s gallery and share it on Instagram.
5. WiFi AR
If you’re bothered by spotty Internet connections, let WiFi AR come to the rescue. This interesting little app shows approximate speed via AR on phones compatible with Google ARCore.
All you have to do is point the camera around and the speed in these places will be shown to you. Note that you will have to do some walking around before the app can create a map of the area.
Apps like this are especially useful if you want to set up a Wi-Fi repeater or extender and need to identify dead zones.
What makes this app special is that it also shows you the signal strength of mobile signals. So if your phone calls are suddenly cut off in a few corners of your home, you will now have solid proof.
6. WPS Fill and Sign
When it comes to file formats and types, PDFs are somewhat difficult to handle, especially on phones. But that has changed over the years, with apps like WPS Fill & Sign helping that cause.
It is a simple PDF editing tool that lets you play with different elements of a PDF. For example, if you want to add text or shapes or add a comment, this app makes it possible.
The most important feature of this app is the Signature feature. Simply create a digital version of your signature and add the same to the PDF.
Plus, the whole process is as easy as pie and takes no more than a few minutes.
There are a few limitations though. For example, you cannot highlight text.
7. Binary
Ever wanted to see yourself in Wonder Woman’s shoes? If yes, say hello to Doublicat.
This great little app uses AI (RefaceAI) to change your face. The only catch is that you can only do this with GIFs. And unlike similar apps, the swap here is so seamless that it’s really hard to see the difference between the real image and the fake.
All you have to do is click on a selfie and choose a funny GIF to change and bam! You have a new breast to move around.
If you’re worried about your face data falling into the wrong hands, don’t worry, as the company claims to delete the photos right after they’ve been processed. If you’re comfortable with it, it’s an app worth trying.
Apps, Apps and More Apps
The Google Play Store hosts a few new Android apps every month, like the ones above. While some, like the Supreme Volume apps, are innovative in their designs, others like Doublicat bring a bit of parody into your life.
