The internet is our source to download anything we want. What if this functionality is broken and we cannot download it from the internet? Surprisingly, this is what bothers many Samsung Internet browser users. They cannot download files using the local browser.
Whenever they try to download something, the download is paused. For some users, the download only pauses when they exit Samsung Internet. This is quite annoying, because you cannot keep the browser open in the foreground all the time.
Fortunately, there are many fixes that will fix the problem for you. At the end of the post, you will be able to download it from the Samsung Internet browser without any problems.
1. Reboot Phone
Let’s start with a simple yet powerful solution, namely restarting your phone. Do this and try the tips below if the files do not download successfully.
2. Rename Download Folder
Often times, a user creates a new download folder with a name similar to the original. You should change it to something different so that it doesn’t conflict with your phone’s default Downloads folder.
3. Remove Memory Card
If your download location for the Samsung Internet browser is set as your memory card, we recommend removing the card for a while. Once removed, plug it back in and see if the browser can download the files. If the problem persists, try downloading without inserting the memory card. If all goes well, there may be a problem with your card.
4. Change Download Path
You can also try changing the download location from SD Card to internal memory or vice versa for Samsung Internet Browser. To do this, follow these steps:
Stage 1: Launch the Samsung browser and tap the three-bar icon at the bottom. Select settings.
step 2: Tap on Sites & downloads. Next, tap on Save downloaded files to and change the location. If it’s already set to your preferred destination, change it for a second and then change it back to the original.
Note: You cannot change the full path. The files will be downloaded to the Downloads folder.
5. Check Storage

6. Grant Storage Permission
Even if you have enough storage, sometimes the app does not have permission to access the storage. So, check this out too. For this, follow these steps:
Stage 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to Apps & notifications.
Step 2: Tap Samsung Internet under All apps.
Stage 3: Tap on Permission. Make sure it has access to storage.
Pro Tip: If it already has access to the storage, turn the permission off and re-enable it.
7. Clear Cache
Next, you should try clearing the cache for your phone’s Samsung Internet browser and Download manager. This will not delete any of your files.
To do this, follow these steps:
Stage 1: Open your phone’s Settings and tap Apps.
Step 2: Tap on the three-dot icon at the top and select Show system apps.
Stage 3: Tap Download Manager, then tap Storage.
Step 4: Tap on Clear Cache.
Step 5: Go back and tap Downloads under All apps. Tap on Storage and then Clear cache. Similarly, clear cache for Samsung Internet.
8. Update App
Similar to any other app, the Samsung Internet browser is prone to bugs. To crush them and fix the download pause issue, you should update the app. For this, open Play Store or Galaxy Store and search for Samsung Internet. Tap on Update if available.

9. Check Battery Saver Settings
Samsung phones often come with multiple battery saving modes that disrupt the normal functioning of apps. If your downloads keep stopping when the screen is off or with Samsung Internet in the background, you should take a look at your battery settings.
To do this, open Settings on your phone and go to Device Maintenance or Device Maintenance. Tap on Battery. First, check Power Mode.
It should be set to Optimized or Medium power saving. Do not set it to maximum power saving. Similarly, you can try disabling Adaptive power saving.
Then go to App power management under Battery. Disable Put unused apps to sleep option. Also, tap on Apps that won’t go to sleep. Add Samsung Internet to the list.
Fly: If you have a third-party battery saver app like Greenify installed on your phone, you should also check its settings.
10. Uninstall Samsung Internet
Most of the time, uninstalling the app fixes many problems with it. For the downloads not working problem in the Samsung internet browser, you should try it.
To uninstall, open Settings on your phone and go to Apps. Tap Samsung Internet. Tap Uninstall.
11. Reset App Permissions

To reset app preferences go to Settings then Apps. Tap on the three-dot icon at the top and select Reset app preferences.
Don’t Leave Samsung
In case the problem persists with the Samsung Internet browser, you can seek help from third-party download managers. Once you do this, you don’t have to switch to other browsers to continue using the Samsung browser. You should use Advanced Download Manager for this.
