Comics | Marvel admits FAILURE in its new THUNDERBOLTS

Within the Marvel Universe, the Thunderbolts are a group of characters made up entirely of villains, something similar to DC’s Suicide Squad.

However, although Marvel is preparing to bring them to the cinematic universe, the studio has decided to make up the group of heroes, a completely different characteristic from what we saw in the comics, which results in an image problem.

When Wilson Fisk was the mayor of New York City, he ended up decreeing a ban on vigilantes in the city. And the only superhero team licensed to operate within the city limits was a new version of the Thunderbolts created by the Kingpin himself.

However, what the people didn’t know was that they were just villains doing Wilson Fisk’s bidding. But, when Fisk was expelled from the city and Luke Cage ended up taking the title of mayor for himself, the decree remained in place, but this time with Hawkeye in command of the Thunderbolts group.

This new team was developed through the creations of Jim Zub and Sean Izaakse, entitled “Thunderbolts #1”. In it, we saw Hawkeye totally eager to bring back the West Coast Avengers, but he is surprised when he discovers that the Thunderbolts have already been chosen.

After learning of what happened, they hold their first meeting, in which it is stated that everyone was chosen through an algorithm responsible for checking several diversity boxes. In addition, he is informed that he will need to rename the group, as well as the team, since they are known by the citizens of New York as villains.

The layout of this issue ended up generating a kind of revolt among comic book fans, because the story was called Thunderbolts, but did not follow the main characteristic. Therefore, there is a good chance that this criticism was taken as truth in the main context of the book.

In other words, the central objective of this new narrative is to bring something new and different to the audience. And, in addition to the name, the plot also uses the same phrase used by the original Thunderbolts, which is “Justice like lightning”in order to mock the story.

However, there is still no information about the path this plot will take us. The main point is centered on the new team and Hawkeye’s transformation into a leader.

In short, the new Thunderbolts is more of a meta-commentary on superheroes than a narrative focused on the original version.
