Android 12: Google prepares to completely overhaul the interface

Here are all the visual changes of Android 12

XDA claims that the document still describes a number of visual changes. First of all, Google would decide to: Review the layout of the always-on display. Android 12 will no longer align all elements (clock, battery, etc.) to the center of the screen. Some elements will now be moved to the top or bottom of the screen. Same story on the lock screen side. Google specifically “lock icon UI changed” warns the user that the smartphone is locked. Google took the development opportunity for XDA new animations for always-on and lock screen.

Android 12 will also mark the arrival of new clock customization options for the lock screen. This option, which has been in development since Android 10, will allow the user to change how the clock is displayed. Google offers you the choice between the classic needle face, abstract face, or text display. Finally, this option allows the user to add a gradient color to certain watch faces. In the same vein, Google will be working on a system to customize the colors of apps on Android 12. The user will be able to choose a primary color and a secondary color that will be applied to the entire mobile operating system.

Android 12 is still in progress simplify display of quick settings. Google would choose to move items (WiFi, Bluetooth, flashlight, etc.) to the side of the screen instead of the top. The number of icons displayed on the screen was reduced to streamline the interface.

According to XDA, Google has developed: A theme called “Silk” For Android 12 (“Silk” in English). This is the theme we saw in the leaked screenshots a few days ago (see above). More generally, Google would improve: A brand new wallpaper-inspired theme system This system is internally named “Monet” after the painter of the same name. This theming system will apply the main wallpaper colors to various elements of the Android interface, including the quick settings panel or the status bar. This option is still in the design phase. It’s not impossible that Google will ultimately choose to ignore this new feature.

Finally, Google is also currently experimenting so-called “mailbox” feature. This option involves dragging an app in use into a box/window with rounded corners. We think this mysterious option could be something like a new multitasking mode, allowing you to keep an app in front of you while you reference another app.

Obviously, these new features will mainly be available on smartphones with pure Android, including Google Pixels. Depending on the Android interface of the manufacturers, certain elements should be different. According to XDA, it is likely that not all of these new features, which are expected in the coming weeks, will appear in the first beta for developers. Google should make all these aesthetic changes to beta versions by next summer. FYI, the final version of Android 12 is expected to be released in September 2021.
