Fans create perfect ‘Pokémon’ game, but Nintendo boycotts and cancels the title

For nine years, a dedicated team of fans worked hard on developing a game based on the universe ‘Pokemon‘, titled ‘Pokémon Uranium’.

Using the RPG Maker XP engine, this team created a game which not only included over 190 new Pokémon, but also brought significant innovations to the original concept.

Meet ‘Pokémon Uranium’

Developed over 12 years, ‘Pokémon Uranium’ emerged as an ambitious and passionate project by fans of the Pokémon universe.

The project began in 2004 and culminated in its release in August 2016. The game quickly achieved resounding success, recording over 1.5 million downloads in less than a week.

‘Pokémon Uranium’ offered a unique experience, with 8 arenas, 13 cities and a new region called Tandor to be explored.

The game captured the imagination of gamers, becoming an instant hit with the fan community. His official website and the Wiki page dedicated to him served as testaments to his impact and popularity.

However, Nintendo, the franchise’s rights holder,Pokemon‘, did not share the community’s enthusiasm.

Shortly after the release of ‘Pokémon Uranium’, the company requested the game’s removal, relying on its copyright.

The developers, respecting the decision, removed the official game download links from their website. This action resulted in the mysterious disappearance of the creators, leaving the project in the hands of the community.

Despite being nominated for the ‘Best Fan Creation’ award in The Game Awards 2016, the project was overshadowed by the victory of ‘Enderal: The Shards of Order’.

The fan community, still in love with the game, continues to try to revive ‘Pokémon Uranium’, although without success so far.

On social media, many users ask that the Nintendo recognize and approve the colossal effort invested in the development of ‘Pokémon Uranium’.

Hope remains that the project will be relaunched with Nintendo’s blessing, although the company’s track record in dealing with similar situations suggests the likelihood of that happening is low.
