Chrome: Google Assistant will automatically replace hacked passwords

Last year, Google introduced a new feature to protect Chrome users on Android. This option allows Google Assistant to: Make sure your passwords aren’t compromised during a hack or any other computer attack.

Concretely, the smart assistant compares an encrypted copy of your identifiers and passwords against a database containing hacked passwords. If your password has been stolen by a hacker, Google will recommend that you change it on all platforms where it is used to prevent a potential attacker from accessing it.

Google Assistant will change your passwords for you

Google Assistant doesn’t stop there. In Chrome, the smart assistant will offer you: change password directly is in danger. Concretely, Google Assistant will display a window with a “Change password” button.

If you click on this button (we recommend that you do this), Chrome will redirect you to the relevant site (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,…) and will change your password for you. You can take control at any time or let Assistant make the necessary changes. You can choose your own password or let Chrome’s built-in password manager provide you with a highly secure code.

Launched last year, this option has been gradually rolled out to all Android smartphones worldwide over the last few months. Until now, most Internet users are still change password manually Pinned by Google Assistant. The functionality was not fully available in most terminals.

It looks like the full option is now enabled for most Chrome users on Android. Young American whistleblower Max Weinbach also shared a screenshot of this function on his Twitter account. Google has noticeably accelerated distribution in recent days.
