Google Docs: Thanks to this system, you no longer receive notifications for every change made to a document.

Google continues to improve the user experience offered by its word processing software Google Docs every year. Since 2018, users have been able to use the grammar checker and even the real-time word counter to track their progress.

More recently, the Mountain View firm introduced a new tool that allows you to improve your writing style by, for example, offering different sentence structures, synonyms to change the vocabulary used, and even more inclusive words. The latest innovation is valid from May 2022 and offers the ability to select multiple text boxes and edit them simultaneously. It is especially useful for bolding several sections.

Regardless, it’s something that can be annoying, especially if you’re used to using Google Docs for collaboration. Actually, There’s nothing more annoying than constantly receiving notifications. one of your colleagues at a time makes changes to one of your documents. The good news is that Google has decided to put an end to this problem.

Google puts an end to the avalanche of notifications in Docs

On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Google confirmed in a blog post that it is now possible to: Get a summary of all changes made to a specific document by email within a period predetermined by you. These emails will detail changes made, date and authors.

“By giving you the opportunity to specify comments and changes to be notified, you can more easily keep track of the issues that need your most attention and keep track of collaboration.” explains Google.

Users can benefit from this system from the drop-down list on Documents.Notification settings“. There you will find a dialog box with different options of the notification system to adjust it to your needs. Google states that change notifications will be disabled by default and you will need to enable them for each document. This feature will be rolled out gradually starting July 19, 2022, and will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers.
