Has Google finally found the definitive payment solution? We have come a long way to reach today. It all started in 2011 when the firm introduced Google Wallet, a payment app that worked using NFC technology before incorporating other money transfer methods. Later in 2018, the application merged with Android Pay and became Google Pay, which is still in effect today. However, according to the latest update, this will not last long.
In fact, in April this year, rumors about the revival of Google Wallet appeared on the Internet. The rumors were true: At the Google I/O conference last May, the manufacturer confirmed that the app would make a comeback. It will no longer be a simple payment solution as the app will be able to store bank cards, ID cards, keys, various tickets and even a vaccination card.
Google Wallet comes to Android smartphones
Google spokesperson Chaiti Sen announced that the distribution of this brand new Google Wallet has just started in 39 countries. In France, the app will replace Google Pay, while it will co-exist for a while in certain regions, including the US. Therefore, there will be nothing left to do but download the Google Pay update to gain access to its successor.
According to initial feedback, Google Wallet integrates tap-to-pay technology as well as dynamic colors that change depending on the user’s settings. Adding a new document is also easier thanks to a button located directly on the home screen. If you don’t have access to the app yet, be patient: According to Google, it’s expected to arrive in the coming days.
