The magic eraser is undoubtedly Google Photos’ flagship tool. Being able to change the audio of any photo or even videos with just a few thumb movements is enough to make major software programs in the industry faded to the satisfaction of novice users. Especially as time goes by the tool becomes more versatile and powerful and we can wonder what its limits are. Rest assured, there are some.
In fact, it is not possible to do anything and everything with a magic eraser. Our colleagues at Android Authority examined the Google Photos code and noticed some limitations that the Mountain View company had taken care to integrate into its functionality. As you can imagine, these are primarily security issues. For example, it is impossible to change an ID card photo saved on your smartphone.
Google Photos will stop you if you try to edit these images
The same generally applies to all administrative documents that contain personal information such as a person’s name, address or photograph. Moreover, you cannot change a person’s physical characteristics with the application. If you try the devil, you’ll be greeted with a pop-up warning informing you that the changes are against the Google Photos Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions are part of a more global goal to prevent the firm’s tools from being used for malicious purposes, particularly for identity theft. Similarly, the app refuses to use AI to create personal information from scratch. However, this safety net is not 100% effective. Android Authority states that it was able to change an invoice that normally wouldn’t be possible.
