That does not make sense. First of all, Google is distributing several betas for Android 14 after the I/O conference, as usual. Like every year, everyone expects the final release to arrive in early September, a few weeks at most. Moreover, although it is quite surprising, we learn that it will also be available on Xiaomi 13 at the end of August.
In short, everything was going well until last week, until rumors of postponement started to circulate. Then a new date appears: October 4. That’s okay, users will have to wait a bit, but now the r/android_beta subreddit has dropped a little bombshell. According to the latter, the first beta of Android 14 QPR1 will arrive on September 18.
Could the distribution of the final version of Android 14 be near?
A quick reminder of the facts: So-called QPR releases of Android usually consist of quarterly fixes of various bugs and security flaws found in the operating system. It also happens that Google takes the opportunity to add a few features, but in any case these updates usually do not arrive before December. Therefore, the announcement of the Android 14 QPR1 beta is especially surprising, especially at a time when there is uncertainty regarding the final version of the operating system.
Therefore, everything indicates that the latter will come to our smartphones soon, maybe even before October 4. But there is still much that can be said for sure. The post from r/android_beta actually seems to have a relatively evasive purpose and even serves as a reminder to users registered for the Android 14 beta, offering a way out for September 18th. So we will need to be more patient than ever to learn more.
