Paycardreader: the app that collects your bank information!

Recent months have seen the arrival of the contactless payment system in France. First implemented on smartphones with Wallet-type applications (wallet), we can still see it today. new credit cards equipped with this new NFC technology. However, is it really safe? Anyone with a simple smartphone with the Paycardreader app installed will be able to:

• Collect your credit card number
• Collect cardholder name
• Get expiration date
• Know the last amounts of your last transactions

Can the NFC chip be blocked from transmitting?

Yes ! To prevent your personal data from falling into the hands of any malicious strangers, you can adopt one of the following solutions:

• Wrap your debit card in aluminum foil
• Protect your card in a box provided for this purpose
• Call your bank to request deactivation of the NFC chip
• Watch video tutorials to remove it yourself (risky)
• Use aluminum card box

Considering that your bank information is never secure, it is up to you to adopt the right solution. It is important to note that this app was quickly removed from the PlayStore., however, it is still possible to find the source folder to get it! While Paycardreader is no longer officially available, it certainly won’t be long before we see a new app released.
