3 New Galaxy Lollipop Update Details Confirmed

The new Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop update details for the United States have been confirmed.

Samsung released the first Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop update in December. Since then, the Lollipop release has made tremendous progress here in the United States and in countries around the world. Samsung’s still nowhere near finished, but we’re finally starting to see Lollipop updates roll out for non-flagship devices.

Initially, Samsung’s Galaxy Lollipop update was rolled out to big-name flagships, devices like the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy S4. As these updates gained momentum, so did Samsung’s overall Lollipop. In April, the company finally started rolling out updates for lesser-known devices, such as the Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy A3, and more.

This week, Three more names have been added to the list.. T-Mobile, the only carrier to host an Android software update page, has confirmed the upcoming triple Android 5.0 Lollipop update for popular Galaxy tablets.

The screen of the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is stunning.

T-Mobile says the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Lollipop version is currently in “Manufacturer Development”, which means it has been approved by Samsung and T-Mobile. The update is still out of T-Mobile’s hands, which means it could be weeks after its release. Internal testing is unpredictable, but it usually takes several weeks for a software to be approved.

The carrier has also confirmed a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Lollipop release. The update is in the same boat as the Galaxy Tab 4’s Android 5.0 update, and it’s unclear when the update will be delivered to T-Mobile for behind-the-scenes testing. T-Mobile will update the page once it passes for testing in their labs.

Finally, T-Mobile has also confirmed an Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Tab S. The Galaxy Tab S Lollipop version is ahead of the other two and is currently in the “T-Mobile Test” phase. T-Mobile’s engineers are currently tinkering and poking the update to make sure it’s ready for public consumption. T-Mobile does not specify a specific release date for the update. Again, the release date will depend on performance within the lab.

Galaxy S6 Settings to Change

While T-Mobile is making progress with the Samsung Galaxy Android 5.0 Lollipop updates, it has yet to confirm the Galaxy S4 Lollipop update. The update, which has already been released for AT&T and Verizon, is missing from the app, and it’s unclear when the carrier plans to adopt it. US carriers generally don’t allow their competitors to release updates without opposition, so we should see Uncarrier follow in the footsteps of AT&T and Verizon in the future.

Samsung and its carrier partners continue to make great strides and we expect this pace to continue as we enter May. These updates join other Android 5.0 Lollipop updates that have been confirmed for devices like the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4, and Galaxy Note Edge. Samsung is also expected to make significant progress with the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop distributions.

The company is reportedly planning Android 5.1 Lollipop updates for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6, and it looks like a lucky Galaxy S6 Edge user at T-Mobile got the update early.

Samsung’s Android 5.1 update is expected to bring Guest Mode (and bug fixes) back to stable Galaxy devices. It is unclear whether Samsung’s tablets or older flagship smartphones will receive support up to Android 5.1. For now, the company appears to be focusing on Android 5.1 for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and Android 5.0.2 and Android 5.0.1 for older devices.
