We discussed a handful of iOS 8 Cydia tweaks that you can use on your iPhone to make it behave like Android, but a new iPhone theme has been released on Cydia that transforms your iOS experience into a purely Android one.
It’s called Andrios and can be purchased on the Cydia app store for a few dollars.
While many users like the iPhone and its design, some users still like the Android user experience. Many would argue that it’s more open than iOS and allows them to do many different things that iOS wouldn’t normally allow. Fortunately, Andrios is a jailbreak tweak for iPhones that gives users the Android experience on their Apple smartphones.
With Andrios, you get all the great features of Android, including the bottom three-button action bar, Android-style notification center, mini player, power menu, and the awesome Google Search widget on the home screen. .
While iOS continues to run normally in the background, the graphical interface is completely different. Perhaps the biggest features iOS users will gain when using Andrios are the mini-player, Google Search widget, and Android-style power menu.
The mini player lets you play and control music with a small widget on the home screen that you can drag anywhere on the screen. It also displays album art, song, and artist information, as well as media controls such as play, pause, next, and previous. You can double tap on it to hide it until you need it again.
The Google Search widget lets you type a search query instantly on the home screen, freeing you from having to open Safari and then perform a search. Perhaps one of the most loved features of Android and iOS users can now take advantage of it using Andrios.
As for the power menu, it’s a feature that iOS is seriously lacking. Normally, holding down the power button brings up the swipe option to turn off your iPhone, but that’s it. With Andrios, you’ll have the option to turn off your iPhone as well as answer or restart it, change the ringtone or change the airplane mode.
Other features include a switch widget (where you can toggle WiFi, data, Bluetooth, etc.) and an Android volume slider; this way if you are watching a video. Instead, a simple slider appears that you can use.
Of course, there are plenty of other Android themes available in Cydia, but Andrios is perhaps one of the best to come out. Of course, if you really want to use Android, you’re probably better off getting an Android device like the Galaxy S6 or LG G4, but if you like the design of iPhones and want something other than the iOS UI, Andrios is a great option.
Of course, you will need to be jailbroken to use Andrios, and the latest version of iOS is not jailbroken. Fortunately, if you’re still using iOS 8.1.2 or older, you can jailbreak your iPhone and get busy. Otherwise, we’ll have to wait for an iOS 8.3 jailbreak.
