As you know, Google Pixel owners (at least as of Pixel 4a and 4a 5G) can preview what’s coming to Android via QPR betas. After registering in the program, your smartphone is constantly updated with beta versions of the latest versions for Android.
And that’s exactly how Google released the beta version of Android 13 QPR2 on Thursday, February 1, 2023. Along with bringing many fixes to various issues, this build also includes some new features such as Partial Screen Recording, a tool to take partial screenshots of your screen. Useful if you want to share only part of your screen.
But that’s not all since then, according to our colleagues on the site. XDA DevelopersGoogle is also leveraging this new beta to test a never-before-seen feature in Pixels: personalized shortcuts on the lock screen.
As can be seen in these screenshots that Mishaal Rahman shared on Twitter, so it will be possible from the Wallpaper and Style menu and the Shortcuts tab. apply custom shortcuts to the right or left from the lock screen. The user can quickly access some features such as Flashlight, Do Not Disturb mode, Photo app or control a device connected to Pixel without having to unlock it.
However, be careful before you get carried away, there is no guarantee that this feature will be enabled in the next update. The final version of Android 13 expected in March 2023. Still, it’s hard to understand why you decided to set it aside. Indeed, it is time for the manufacturer, which has long offered this functionality in its smartphones, to catch up with the competition.
