If you’re one of the first to jump on the Mac Mini M2 as soon as it was released a few days ago, your experience may already be mixed. Indeed, Apple’s new in-house processor has something to impress in early benchmarks that make it easy to perform certain tasks on the tiny computer. But for many users, this experience is marred by an annoying connection issue.
Since the release of the Mac Mini M2, calls for help have followed one another on Apple’s support forums. They all point to the same problem: the computer suffers from a disastrous Internet speed. Of course, the authors state that they have pre-tested their connections, but they all make sure that the problem does not come from there and that the speed tests all return the usual results.
Mac Mini M2 “not available” on Wi-Fi
The error seems to mainly affect computers connected via Wi-Fi. One user even goes so far as to say that the computer is simple. “not available” in this setup. The words were also confirmed in several comments. Nothing seems to fix the situation, like switching to Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, or even resetting the computer.
However, for some users, Ethernet connections appear to be affected as well, suggesting the problem lies elsewhere. A user also found a workaround. The latter explains that he went to his Mac’s network settings, where he selected the “configure manually” option to disable AVB/EAV mode. Following his message, other users stated that they were getting better speeds.
On the other hand, it seems that there is no solution on the Wi-Fi side for now. In other words, the problem is more on the software side and should be fixed in a future update.
