Sprint confirmed today Samsung Galaxy S6 Android 5.1.1 update. The update is currently rolling out to Galaxy S6 users, but the carrier’s software update page states that “software updates may be released in stages and may take several days to deliver.”
Galaxy S6 users are advised to go to the device’s settings to manually check for the update. If not hidden, it may appear as a prompt later today. Sprint’s launch usually doesn’t take more than a week, so Galaxy S6 users will want to keep their eyes open as the day and week go by.

The carrier states that it will still roll out in waves, with Sprint’s Android updates usually wrapping up within a week of rollout. Galaxy S6 Edge users can check for updates in settings or wait for the prompt to appear in notifications.

It is not yet clear whether Samsung will offer updates to the AT&T and Verizon versions of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Neither carrier has confirmed the plans, and neither is expected to get ahead of potential releases.
Samsung is also said to have a Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1.1 update for July, though it’s unclear where it will land first. It’s clear that Samsung has made the United States a priority, so it’s possible that we may see it land on US carriers before moving to other markets.
