Mass Effect keeper locations for the Sweep the Guardians assignment

Mass Effect guardians are unusual creatures often seen around the Citadel, doing general maintenance to ensure all their systems continue to function properly. From first impressions you may think they are part of a well-organized maintenance program, but if you dig deeper you will discover that no one knows where they came from! It is possible that they were created by the Protheans, but this cannot be confirmed because under Council law it is illegal to interrupt their work – mainly because of their tendency to turn into a pool of goo if interfered with. Naturally, this is bad for the Mass Effect watchdogs themselves, as well as for Citadel in general, as these little sidekicks play a central role in maintaining operations.

If you’ve been moving forward in Mass Effect Legendary Edition from the first adventure, you may have encountered a paymaster named Chorban after your first meeting with Council on the Citadel. They review one of the Mass Effect watchdogs, and if you approach them, they’ll explain the legally questionable work they’ve undertaken before giving you a scanner and commissioning you to scan every guard at the Citadel. There’s loads of credits and XP to be earned for this, and the task isn’t too difficult if you know where to look, so follow our guide to all Mass Effect keeper locations and start ticking off your to-do list.

Locations of Mass Effect rangers

There are a total of 21 Mass Effect guards around the Citadel, and you’ll have to scan each one individually to complete your collection. You’ll get credits and XP for every goalkeeper scanned, and you’ll get a bonus after registering them all.

Mass Effect keepers – Presidency (8)

• The first Mass Effect guard at the Presidium is next to an Avina terminal, next to the elevator to the Citadel Tower.
• The second Mass Effect protector in the Presidium is next to the elevator to Wards.
• The third Mass Effect guardian in the Presidential Court is on the balcony behind the Embassy Lounge.
• The fourth Mass Effect protector on the Presidential Court is in the Embassy Lounge area, in the room behind the receptionist where several computer terminals are located.
• The fifth Mass Effect guardian in the Presidential Court is at the Embassies, Volus & Elcor Office next to Udina’s Office. Note that this saver sometimes rests and doesn’t appear, but you should be able to fix this with a quick save and reload.
• The sixth Mass Effect guardian in the Presidential Court is near the entrance to the Consort Chambers.
• The seventh Mass Effect guardian in the Presidium is between the Consort Chambers and the Emporium, next to the stairs.
• The eighth Mass Effect guard in the Presidium is in the upstairs storage room behind the Store.

Mass Effect keepers – Tower (4)

• The first Mass Effect guard in the Tower is in the open area in front of the Council Chamber, which Chorban was initially scanning.
• The second Mass Effect guardian in the tower is behind the Council Chamber to your right as you enter.
• The third Mass Effect guard in the tower is tucked into a circular side area next to Rear Admiral Kahoku.
• The fourth Mass Effect guard in the tower is in a recess to your left as you head towards the Presidium elevator.

Mass Effect guardians – Totem Access (1)

• Accessed by the Wards elevator from the Presidium, the Mass Effect guard in Wards Access is in the smaller of the two side rooms.

Mass Effect keepers – Upper Wards (3)

• The first Mass Effect guard in the Upper Wards, reached by the Wards Access elevator, is in the passageway between that elevator and Chora’s Den. Note that this keeper sometimes rests and may disappear after fighting Tali, but you should be able to fix this with a quick save and reload.
• The second Mass Effect guard in the Upper Wards is on the corner of the Upper Markets, to the left of Expat’s pod.
• The third Mass Effect guard in the Upper Wards is beyond the Med Clinic, next to the Rapid Transport terminal.

Mass Effect keepers – Flux (1)

• Accessed by elevator from the Upper Wards, the Mass Effect guard at Flux is behind the Flux Casino, beyond the Quasar machines and next to the Suspicious Gambling Machine.

Mass Effect keepers – Sub Wards (1)

• Accessed by stairs leading to C-Sec from the Upper Wards under the Med Clinic, the Mass Effect keeper in the Lower Wards is on the side of the room you pass through as you go down.

Mass Effect guards – Security / C-Sec (2)

• The first Mass Effect protector in security is in the C-Sec Claims Office, down the hall beyond the elevator to the Presidential Court.
• The second Mass Effect guard in security is at the far end of the C-Sec Traffic Control room beyond the C-Sec Offices.

Mass Effect keepers – Docking Episodes (1)

• The last Mass Effect guard is in the Docking Sections, accessed by going down the elevator in the C-Sec Academy Atrium on the sled at the far end of the pier. Hisar: Note that this protector will not appear if your I Remember Me assignment is active.
