“I can’t imagine MI without Pollard” – Twitter reacted as Kieron Pollard retires from IPL

Kieron Pollard represented Bombay Indians For the past 13 years and while the franchise has released it before the mini-auction, the versatile West Indies shared an emotional message on their social media platforms on November 15 to announce their decision to retire from the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he won’t be saying goodbye to the team forever as he will continue with them as batting coaches.

Pollard was among the players who represented only one franchise (as of 2010) during his IPL career. Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2008), Jasprit Bumrah (MI from 2013) and Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011) also represented only one franchise. Pollard is also one of the few players to play over 100 IPL games.

“This was not the easiest decision to make as I will continue to play for a few more years, but I understand that this incredible team that has accomplished so much needs to make the transition and if I am no longer playing for MI then I can’t. I see myself playing against MI too. Once an MI is always an MI. I am extremely proud, honored and blessed to have represented the biggest and most successful team in the IPL for the past 13 seasons.Pollard wrote in the message.

“I remember our first encounter, when they greeted me with open arms, saying, “We are a family.” These were not just words, it was evidenced by every action they took during my time with Mumbai Indians.,” added.

The 35-year-old also played an important role in helping his team lift the coveted trophy five times. However, his form fell in the 2022 edition, where he managed just 144 runs in 11 games with a batting rate of 107.46. It was also a forgettable season for MI as they were at the bottom of the scoreboard.
