For several months now, Samsung has been betting on releasing its own operating system, Tizen, in order to get rid of its addiction to its devices and compete with its dominance in the face of Android competition. So far, the first steps of the new operating system are in the smartwatch industry, equipping the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, the latest models of the Galaxy Gear series.
For its part, Google is counting on the success of its own operating system, Android Wear, for connected watches that will specifically equip the highly anticipated Moto 360. The latter will of course be compatible with all smartphones and tablets running Android from their side. .
On the other hand, no official compatibility has yet been announced between smartwatch models running on Tizen OS and Android smartphones, including those from the Korean brand.
Compatible with LG G3 without even needing root!
This means that compatibility of Samsung Gear with products from other brands is not guaranteed, as it is often impossible. However, there is one exception and only one so far: the LG G3 (and the G2s that have loaded the official G3 ROM). Indeed, these are not only perfectly compatible with smartwatch models running Tizen, but no root or major modifications are required.
Just install Gear Manager APK most of the features offered by the connection between phone and smartwatch and smartphone/tablet work: call management, notifications, photo transfer… even updates work perfectly. Only some specific apps are not responding To Samsung API and weather app like pedometer or S Health heart rate measurement.
It’s impossible to go ahead at the moment on the reasons explaining the punctual compatibility with a particular smartphone model, but the LG G3 example may lead us to wonder. Possibility of future partnerships with Samsung to allow compatibility under Tizen between certain Android terminals and Samsung products.
