It took a while, but a new game has finally knocked Minecraft off the top of the paid iPhone games chart. This game is Minecraft Story Mode, a new story driven version of Minecraft that can be used on almost any device with a screen.
Instead of building in a free world like you do in Minecraft, Minecraft Story Mode gameplay offers a story to follow that the game creators will add in the future with new chapters to build on the game.
Unlike many iPhone and Android games, this is a $4.99 paid game. iTunes and Google Play. It’s also available on other consoles and systems, as we outline below.

You don’t need to be a Minecraft owner to play Minecraft Story Mode. Even if you haven’t played Minecraft, if you want the open world building experience it offers, you can enter this game first and then play Minecraft.
What is Minecraft Story Mode?
Minecraft Story Mode takes you on an adventure set in Minecraft where you and your friends have to find the Stone Order.
This first episode begins at EnderCon, where you and your friends try to meet Warrior Gabriel. Something terrible happens and you are now tasked with saving the world.
You have to follow a path rather than build freely, but you can make decisions that will change the story and you have to craft some items to beat the game.

Minecraft Story Mode is available on a wide variety of devices at varying prices depending on how you purchase it.
you can play Minecraft Story Mode on iPhone and iPad, Amazon devices and Android $4.99 per episode. This means that you only have to pay $5 today to start playing, but will have to pay more to finish the game in the future.
You can play Minecraft Story Mode on almost any device.
Minecraft Story Mode release date already arrived Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Mac and PC. You can purchase the full season of Minecraft Story Mode for $24.99 on these consoles. This is basically the same price as you get all five portions. You pay $29.99 if you buy the game on disc, so it’s cheaper to download.
Minecraft Story mode release date for Wii U and PS Vita has not been announced yet, but it is coming.
If you love the game on iPhone, iPad, Android or Amazon devices, you can save 25% by purchasing the rest of the season for $14.99 instead of $19.99 via an in-app purchase.
Minecraft Story Mode Not Recommended for Older Devices
If you plan to play Minecraft Story Mode on your smartphone or tablet, you will need to meet some requirements.
Old iPhones are not up to the task of playing Minecraft Story Mode.
First you need to be on iOS 7.1 or higher, and Telltale games recommend an iPhone 5 or newer. The company specifically calls out to users with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s warning, “WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BUY AND WORK WITH YOUR DEVICE, OR YOU CAN MAKE A SUB-OPTIMAL EXPERIENCE.”

Minecraft Story Mode Episode Release Dates
There are five chapters in Minecraft Story Mode and so far you only have the first one. Here’s what you need to know about Minecraft Story Mode episode release dates.
We know the names of the rest of the Minecraft Story Mode episodes, but there’s no official confirmation of when you’ll be able to play them, so wait for a hint.
Telltale games episodes can arrive as quickly as a few weeks or take as long as a few months to arrive. It takes an average of two hours for a player to complete the chapters.
Other Telltale episodic titles didn’t have a set schedule, but new episodes arrived every few weeks or months, so we were able to see the Minecraft Story Mode Chapter 2 release date coming in January.

Minecraft Story Mode reviews for episode 1 have arrived.
Open metacritical Minecraft Story Mode scored an average of 79 for Xbox One, 75 for PS4 and 70 for PC. There isn’t enough data yet for the iPhone, iPad, or Android versions of the game to show scores.
