Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus Release Rumors Swirl

With the start of 2016, Samsung Galaxy S7 rumors are at an all-time high. We’ve heard little details about Samsung’s upcoming smartphone since September, and now more information has arrived today. appeared either about a larger Galaxy S7 Plus or Galaxy S7 Edge.

In 2015, Samsung launched two versions of the Galaxy S6 in April. These are the regular 5.1-inch Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. A larger Galaxy S6 Edge Plus was launched later in the year, and we’re hearing something similar is coming with the Galaxy S7 Edge in early 2016. Here’s what we know so far.

Rumors were everywhere throughout December, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon. We initially heard that four models will be announced in February, then three and now Samsung and rumors are swirling once again about what to expect from the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and even a larger Galaxy S7 Plus.

Perhaps the biggest leak ever came yesterday, when famous leaker @evleaks (Evan Blass) shared some key information with Venture Beat. Noting that the Galaxy S7 will come with a micro SD card, larger 3,000 mAh battery, a similar overall design to last year, but much better with water resistance and more. His source also stated that a 12-megapixel camera will be on the back instead of last year’s 16-megapixel camera. This lower resolution camera will be better and will have a larger pixel size, be faster with an af/1.7 aperture, and be flush with the back instead of an ugly camera bump. It essentially allows for a better overall design.

This information was new, but everything else mentioned matched what we’ve heard so far. This is a 5.1-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display for the Galaxy S7, a larger Galaxy S7 Edge with a 5.5-inch display, and an overall design that will look almost identical to last year’s Galaxy S6. Then it will be a Galaxy S7 Plus 6 inches. Everyone from Reuters, Wall Street MagazineThe Korean Times and more suggested the same.

Today, however, all that has been turned upside down and the rumor mill is again in full swing. SamMobile published pictures Reportedly from the Samsung Galaxy S7, but we’re not sure if this is the Edge model with the curved screen or the larger Galaxy S7 Plus.

The leaked image on the right is a device showing a benchmark app that shares internal specs and detailed information about the device. It matches all the latest rumors of an 8-core processor, 4GB of RAM, a new and improved 12-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, and fingerprint sensor.

But the image also lists the screen as a 5.71-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD display. Here is the problem. All rumors so far have suggested that the Galaxy S7 Edge will be 5.5 inches and the larger Galaxy S7 Plus will come in 6 inches, making it the largest Galaxy S smartphone ever released.

This leak shows the opposite. It reveals that Samsung will stick to the 5.7-inch screen size used in the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge + and other new devices instead of reducing it to 5.5 inches or increasing it to 6 inches.

Rumors have been swirling for months about what to expect, but rumor has it we’ll hear more as the February announcement draws near. A few leaks have surfaced, allegedly official renders of case makers and other schematics, but so far no actual photos of the device have surfaced. However, it’s only a matter of time before actual device images appear.

It’s too early to tell for now, and rumors are circulating everywhere, making it hard to know exactly what’s going to happen. At the end of the day though, it looks like at least two Galaxy S7 models will be announced, a 3rd model with a curved screen should arrive, and Samsung plans to start early with a February announcement. We hear that the phone will be announced and launched in February, but buyers will have to wait and see.
