We knew that Google Maps has prepared a new interface under the Material Theme, now we know what it looks like. The new design of the app was made available to some users before it was made available to everyone. Android Police was able to get a few screenshots revealing what to expect in the next version of Google Maps.

There are no real surprises in this interface change, we keep the spirit of the new design of the Google Play Store or the latest Gmail interface. The teams of Mountain View are looking for simplicity and clarity here, with an interface that is not overloaded and the dominance of white color. We’ve seen green somehow disappear in the Play Store, same thing happening here for blue, much less available than before.
We also noticed that we have more rounded search buttons and bars. It’s hard to find an element that hasn’t changed, whether on a menu, on a map, on the page of an institution or a monument. Perhaps the most extraordinary change will be credited to the department. “Explore the environment”, lets you make recommendations for places to eat or have a drink.
