Android 12 is finally coming to Google TV’s Chromecast 4K

In 2020, Google is launching a new Chromecast compatible with Google TV that can stream content in 4K. A minor revolution for the time, but not much has changed since then. However, the Mountain View company hasn’t given up on the tech as it recently launched a new, cheaper model limited to 1080p. Therefore, an update was expected by users for a long time.

A wait that is now over with the arrival of the STTE.220621.019.A2.9082754 build on the device. Note that this update only concerns 4K models. The latter, weighing in at 722 MB, is relatively large as it allows the device to upgrade from Android 10 to Android 12. Since it includes the July 2022 patch, it provides the same degree of security.

Chromecast 4K for Google TV finally gets a big update

It’s not a luxury update, as Chromecast has been content with the May 2022 security patch for several months now. We will also note that some interesting features are coming, in particular, enabling and disabling access to the camera and microphone. Thus, it allows you to configure the parameter for video calling from your television.
