How to Take a Screenshot on HTC One M8

The new shiny aluminum HTC One M8 was announced and launched earlier this year after being one of the most leaked devices in recent history. Now that consumers are starting to get their hands on it, we’re being asked a lot of questions.

HTC’s new phone is fully loaded with advanced features (like this camera), but one thing that is constantly asked is something as simple as taking a screenshot. If you want to take a screenshot of something funny posted on Facebook, a meme of your favorite NFL team, or even important email snippets, screenshots are an easy way to save things.

Taking screenshots or screenshots is one of the oldest tricks in Android, but the way this is accomplished can vary several times, not to mention that some manufacturers do things differently than others. To take a screenshot with HTC One M8, just hold down a few buttons and you’re all set.

If you’ve used an Android device in the last few years, you’ll be right at home, and that’s the case with almost any device not made by Samsung. The Galaxy series does things a little differently, but HTC screenshots are just like any other Android device and very similar to the iPhone.

With iPhone, if you simultaneously press and hold the home and power/sleep button for a while (and perfect the timing), you will hear the shutter sound and the screenshot will be taken and saved. The same case works only on Android without the home button. Whether you have used a Galaxy device, iPhone or other Android in the past, here is how to take a screenshot on HTC One M8.

Instructions

Just like we mentioned above, recording what’s on the screen of your new HTC One M8 smartphone is super easy. It’s actually so easy that you’ll probably be sorry you haven’t tried it before.

Press the Power/Sleep button on your HTC One together with the volume down button at the same time. Position what is likely to be your index finger and thumb, then power+volume down at the same time, hold and release until you see the visual screenshot (or camera shutter sound) on the screen. It’s that easy.

Once complete, you will see and hear the screenshot, which can then be accessed in various ways. Pulling down the notification bar as shown above will instantly show that the screenshot has been taken and saved, and you can even share it directly from the notification bar.

Tap the Circle and two arrows “share” icon in the notification popup bar of the screenshot and you can instantly text a friend, attach it to an email, or do any of the many sharing integrations with Android.

Alternatively, all screenshots are also saved on HTC One M8 internal storage and users can navigate to the gallery just as you would to retrieve and view a photo. You’ll notice everything is categorized in the HTC gallery app, and this is the first time you’ll see a new album or category for “screenshots” and they’ll all be there.

That’s all, you’re done! Now you’ve learned how to quickly and easily capture whatever’s on your smartphone’s screen to share and make it your way. Stay tuned for more HTC One M8 coverage, details and how-tos in the near future.
