App Annie announces extensive research On the occasion of Play Store’s 10th anniversary, formerly Android Market. The report highlights 10 highlights of Google’s popular app store. Google Play generates twice as many downloads as Apple’s App Store, but Apple customers spend more. Only 34 out of 100 users worldwide spend money on the Play Store, while 66 spend money on the App Store. The Play Store earns $0.34 less per download than the App Store. France is the 7th country in App Annie’s ranking: “Android users in selected countries have more than 60 apps and use more than 30 every month”. French mobile users are fond of apps.
Google Play Store celebrates 10 years: 330 billion downloads and 85 billion dollars spent
According to research, the most profitable apps in the world are: Line, Tinder, Pandora Music, Line Manga, Netflix and Kaokao Talk. But the most popular in terms of downloads remain: Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram. 330 billion downloads from Google’s app store since 2012. App Annie also talks about the future: “By 2022, consumer spending on Google Play will reach $42 billion. 90% more than 2017“.
Users spent $85 billion between January 2012 and August 2018. The study reveals that more than 5,000 apps worldwide have managed to generate more than $1 million in consumer spending.
