Users may finally have the ability to use navigation in Google Maps. dark mode enabled by default. As Android Police reports, the feature was added with version 10.2 of the Android app. Previously, the dark mode was automatically activated at night and disappeared at dawn. From now on, Google Maps settings will give us a choice: leave auto-switching, always in day mode or always in night mode.
Google Maps: dark mode that can be activated at will
This option has been a staple of Google apps for months, with dark mode available on YouTube, as well as Google News, Messages, and soon the Mountain View company’s Phone app. It’s a decision made since recent design updates to these services, especially with lots of white on the Gmail, Maps, Drive and Photos interfaces. For this reason, it is a choice that some users who can switch to dark mode do not like.
We know Google Maps will let us know soon if our favorite store is promoting. In the meantime, we’re happy with these few changes for navigation. In addition to the dark mode, the app settings are enriched with navigation options such as preferences (fee avoidance, etc.) that are only available when starting a journey in older versions. The latest version of Maps is available below to take advantage of these new features.
