At the end of 2017, Deezer launched SongCatcher, which is heavily inspired by Shazam and offers exactly the same service: recognizing songs posted around you. If it hadn’t subsequently revolutionized the music streaming market, its latest update risks shaking up the industry a bit.
Indeed, Deezer has announced the arrival of a new feature in SongCatcher that was once exclusive, inspired by another innovation before it. Remember Google Search, which allowed its users to find the name of a song simply by humming it? Bingo, Deezer now offers exactly that.
Hum a song and Deezer will find it for you
When integrated into the Search section of the app, all you have to do is sing, hum or even whistle a song for Deezer to present you with a list of relevant titles. If the app is correct, all you have to do is add the song to your playlist in a few clicks. A first in the music streaming industry.
“This is why we are proud to be the first music streaming service in the world to give our users the ability to identify a title by humming or singing it directly in the app.”, said Alexandra Leloup, VP of Core Product. And Deezer isn’t on its first try.
Earlier in the year, the platform did indeed integrate translation of lyrics into its app, again a new feature among streaming services. “As we improve the algorithm, the feature will become faster and more accurate when it comes to identifying accessible tracks in our library of over 90 million tracks.”Alexandra promises Leloup.
