Last week, popular mobile and Facebook game developers King Digital Industries released their third Candy Crush game. The new game is called Candy Crush Jelly Saga and in less than a week there are over 5 million games on the market. Downloads on Android, and even more on iOS. Here, we review five things Candy Crush addicts should know.
Jelly Saga is the game company’s third game and was only released on January 7, but it’s already extremely addictive and has millions of loyal players. And while we don’t have tons of tips and tricks for you yet, there are a few things everyone should know about the new game.
Anyone who’s played the original Candy Crush Saga or its sequel, Soda Saga, will be right home. Most of the game is very similar to each other, but they have added some notable changes, bosses and other things to keep the game fresh and new. Lets start.
Candy Crush is an addictive game and some players spend a lot of hours and a lot of money on it. There’s a reason every game is the most downloaded and grossing game for mobile, and it’s because they’re fun, inviting, and at the same time frustrating where you need to play them once again. Again and again. Here’s what you need to know.
Available for Everyone
Candy Crush Jelly Saga isn’t just for Android or iPhone. The game was released on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store and even Windows on January 7th. Pick it up wherever you want and save your playing Facebook friends too, you’ll need them.
Users interested in getting this new game simply search for Jelly Saga in the app store for the device of their choice and it works even on tablets. Download today and enjoy.
In-app purchases
Like every game and all Candy Crush games on King Digital, it’s extremely well made and completely free. However, there are many in-app purchases that users should be aware of, especially before giving the game to your kids.
This was the title that allowed Apple to return millions of dollars to parents for their unknowingly purchase. Add a password to purchases on your device, be careful, and teach kids which button does what so they don’t spend valuables or real money. If you played the old games, which we will talk about again below, you can get 50 gold bars for free. Worth it.
How to play
If you’ve played any of the other Candy Crush games, you can most likely skip this area. However, there are some new mechanics that will be useful to anyone interested in Jelly Saga.
Alongside the usual candy-matching style are a host of new challenges and cool abilities that can be unlocked, but of course, that won’t be easy. With Jelly Saga, levels are spread across multiple grids that connect together by making matches on purple jelly squares. Match these jelly squares and you’re ready to go. Here’s a look at the first 20 minutes and a quick tip.
To continue, try and close all purple square scene in Jelly Saga. There are also new 2×2 squares that offer special power-ups like little fish that slide from square to square and smear purple jelly glue around the board, helping you clear matches faster. Fish is targeting Pufflers so be careful.
Boss Mode
There are two new game modes with Jelly Saga; Jelly and Boss. The first is what we’re all familiar with, but bosses are new and require some skill and thought. In boss mode, players must test their elite skills against the Jelly Queen and her little queen minions.
Boss mode has a movement limit in normal order and if done correctly this will be an advantage. You will need to find the most bubbles (more in a minute) or cover the map with your Jelly more than the boss. Oh, and don’t go for instant pairing. Be strategic. Special candies stun the boss and give you an extra spin, so consider everything before you go.
The top of the screen will also alert players that the boss may make a special move from time to time, so keep an eye out for the little warning at the top of the screen before making any changes. It is also worth noting that the tickets are back. At level 41, there seems to be a balloon with some character icons on it. Therefore, users may need friends to progress further in the game.
Puffler and More
Another new aspect of Jelly Saga is cute little things called Pufflers. They look like a small caterpillar but somewhere in the game they are called Marshmallows. These are very important especially when playing against bosses.
Players need to find the Pufflers, but the problem is they don’t want to be found. You may encounter a Puffler tail or head when making matches and working with icing, but they move quickly. There is a trick though. Watch the icing as it moves for a better idea of where it’s going. The trick is to spawn the Pufflers and free them. Puffler levels focus on clearing all the icing so they have nowhere to go. This will really help in the long run. Here are a few tips from the developers themselves.
So remove all the frosting, release the Pufflers and focus on slowly covering the entire screen with your Jelly color. This is the best way to get things done, especially when fighting bosses.
And our last tip is to download old games before installing or opening Jelly Saga. Download the first two, connect to Facebook and wait. Existing players of the originals will receive 50 gold bars into the Jelly Saga just for playing the Soda Saga or the original. Get some Candy Crush friends now because you’ll need them later with Jelly Saga. Good luck and enjoy.
