According to various reports throughout reddit, the XDA Developer forum, and even Google’s own product help forums, many Nexus 5 owners are experiencing serious issues after the July software update arrived. It was a minor version for security purposes, but it changed quite a lot considering it’s a list of July 1 and July 5 changes made by Google.

It looks like there’s a bug in the code or somewhere that causes an audio memory allocation error, which is the technical term. What the owners are experiencing is just volume errors and issues on the Nexus 5. Things like in-call volume being completely muted and uncontrollable, all other volume controls kicking in, users missing calls because the ringer volume is muted, and more.
