How to Locally Block Unknown Callers on iPhone 1

How to Locally Block Unknown Callers on iPhone

iPhones offer an easy way to block callers by their number; Therefore, if you receive a spam call, you can easily block it. But what if you don’t want any call from those annoying unknown callers and there is no caller id number? Unfortunately, there is no direct way to do this yet. But don’t worry, we have your back. Apparently, there is a simple work around that will automatically block calls from unknown callers and “No Caller ID” numbers on your iPhone:

Block Unknown Callers using Do Not Disturb

Do Not Disturb is an extremely useful feature on iPhones. It allows you to focus on every task at hand and not be distracted by the constant flashing of your phone and the notification sounds every time you receive a message or call. Do Not Disturb can be programmed or turned on manually. Here is how you can use Do Not Disturb mode to block calls from unknown callers:

1. On your iPhone “Settings -> Do Not Disturb“. Here, turn the switch next to “Manual” with “Open”.

2. Now, tap on “.Allow incoming calls“. By default, this is probably “Favoriteschange it to “.”All Contacts“.

3. Go back and under the section that says “Silence“, choose “Always“. This ensures that you do not receive calls from unknown callers, even if you are using the phone and the screen is on.

This much. Since your Do Not Disturb mode is turned on, it will not notify you of incoming calls and caller ID numbers from unknown callers. Now you can go back to work and not be bothered by anyone who is not on your contact list. No more annoying spam calls! Enjoy!

Bonus: Duplicate Calls

The only downside to using a workaround like this is that you won’t get notifications for actual calls from a number that isn’t in your contact list. While this is normal, it can be a problem if the other person is in an emergency and needs your help. Therefore, in the Do Not Disturb section, “Repeated Calls“.

repeated calls are allowed

All that said, if someone calls you from an unknown number and then calls back in three minutes, your iPhone won’t block that call and will notify you of an incoming call. So, unless spammers repeatedly call numbers in your area, you can safely turn this on and only unknown callers who really need to talk to you may get annoyed.

Block Unknown Callers and Caller ID Numbers on Your iPhone

I don’t know why there is no option to block unknown calls directly on iPhone. Fortunately, if you really want to block these calls, this workaround will definitely work for you. Be careful though, because if you use this, you won’t receive calls from numbers not saved in your contact list.
