In India’s second game against Hong Kong in the 2022 Asian Cup, they set a massive 193 goal against Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the UAE on Wednesday, 31 August.
Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan won the toss and chose to go bowling first. Indian openings, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul He made 36 runs out of 39 balls and 21 runs out of 13 balls, respectively.
However, Rohit was soon dismissed by Ayush Shukla in 4.5. Shukla shrunk in stature and pulled him out. Rohit swung back to build power, but the ball hurriedly hit the bat, causing Rohit to mistimed his shot. The ball was heading towards the middle and Aizaz Khan ran forward and completed the catch. Rohit’s shot also had two fours and sixes.
The next hitter to be sacked was KL Rahul. Rahul played 39 balls and scored 36 points, two of which were sixes. But on 12.6, Mohammad Ghazanfar delivered a looped delivery that caused Rahul to quickly sweep the ball on his leg side. But he has a weak edge behind him due to the extra bounce. The ball landed on goalkeeper Scott McKechniew and caught the ball on the second try.
Virat Kohli was already in the crease and then his partner Suryakumar Yadav came. Suryakumar was fired from the very beginning. He shot all over the stadium and scored a total of four sixes (three balls in a row) in the penultimate episode. In the end, he landed an undefeated 68-round hit over just 26 balls, including six-bounds and six-unders, at an impressive stroke rate of 261.54.
It took a while for Kohli to calm down before he started shooting big shots towards the end of the inning. He played 44 balls to make an undefeated 59 runs with a border and three sixes. In the end, India scored a massive 192/2 in the 20 overs reserved for them.
