MWC 2018: Archos Hello, a connected speaker with a display for less than 200 euros

Mobile World Congress 2018 will open its doors on Sunday, February 25, and Archos will present Hello, the touchscreen connected speaker duo. The French manufacturer is still one step ahead and is unveiling two models with a simple design before the opening of the show. Quite simply, it is a 7 or 8.4 inch Android tablet mounted on a wooden enclosure. It can be placed vertically or horizontally. Archos Hello runs on Android Oreo instead of Android Things, the platform developed by Google specifically for screen-connected speakers.

Archos Hello is a smart display, a connected speaker with a display, equipped with a quad-core processor combined with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Its 4000 mAh battery should guarantee a day of use without recharging. Archos Hello is also equipped with a 5 MP front camera for video calls with Google Duo, which reached 100 million users from 50 million in two months. The four-way microphone allows the connected speaker to hear and process user voice commands with Google Assistant.

The French manufacturer’s enclosure presents itself as an everyday companion that will make it possible to voice manage home automation services, especially at home, be it lighting or video surveillance. Of course, music streaming services will also be available and video content can be shown on the big screen. Archos has announced that the two Hello speakers will be available from summer 2018 for 129 euros for the 7-inch model and 179.99 euros for the 8.4-inch model.
