Google announced last June that it has ended photo syncing between Google Drive and Google Photos. This distinction of the two applications has been valid since July 10. From now on, you will no longer always see photos added to Google Drive in Google Photos and the same for reverse synchronization. It’s a fair decision in the eyes of Google, who explains this feature with the confusion it creates among users.
Google Drive and Photos: no more automatic syncing of your images
This disconnect between Google Drive and Google Photos has a few ramblings you should be aware of. On the one hand, the possibility is presented sync photos manually. So, for those who prefer their image double-sided, it is still possible. Google now gives you two options to easily send Google Photos from Google Drive.
The first is to do it through the backup and sync application available on the PC. You can enable an option in settings so that pictures added to Drive are always copied to Google Photos. a new option “Send to Photos” Also available on Google Drive on the web. It allows you to duplicate photos between two services.
Again, synced images take up twice as much Google storage space if stored in original quality. You may find yourself running out of space very quickly. In addition, before these changes, photos deleted from one application were automatically deleted from the other. With the new synchronization possibilities, the changes are not automatically applied on either side as the photos are stored separately.
